Ok, I already mentioned that I picked up a Fusion Special the other day, and after cleaning it up and setting it up, I have decided that these pickups kinda suck. Has anyone ever measured the output on these? They are Charvel logo'd SC size humbuckers (i think). I mean, they sound good, but the gain seems to be really low, especially in the bridge pickup. Anyone else notice this? I am comparing out puts from my other two guitars (HM strat and Model 4). I guess maybe I am spoiled by high output bridge pickups. Should I spring for a new pickup or two?

Re: Fusion Special pickups
do the pups have plastic (emg-like) covers on them.
if they do, take them out and rip those covers off and use some alcohol to clean the glue off.
then it will sound great!
i have a jackson fusion, and it has a charvel stamped floyd on it.
i don't know if the volume is in the same place or not but i love how most C/J's have it right under the bridge pup. its conveinent and quick for the fast volume spins.

Re: Fusion Special pickups
Yes, they have the plastic covers on them, but they are strange-they are sealed up with what looks like epoxy on the bottom, and don't appear as though they could be disassembled in any way. I opened the wiring cavity, and there is no evidence that the electronics in this guitar were ever touched-all solder joints are clean, no strange wires. I'm 100% percent sure it is wired correctly, because the pickups sound great clean-it is just the overdriven sound that i find weak. There are no strnage buzzez or odd tones in any of the selector positions. I may use this axe to test out those new EMG HZ singles, since I don't want to bother with actives. And they are not as expensive as some of the Duncans!
