• What can I expect to pay for a clean Charvel Model 2 please?

There is a clean Charvel Model 2 that I am interested in and would like to know what is the most that I should be willing to pay for this guitar.

I think it has that Charvel single locking Floyd Rose (strings pass through the fine tuners) as well as the locking nut behind the nut. Pickup is stock (what is this pickup by the way?) by the looks of the cover. Guitar has no case by the way.

    Thanks!

Well I just won the auction for $162.50 and that seems to be a fair price looking at the "completed auctions" from ebay.

Does not come with a case but I have a few extra ones lying around.

Is an aftermarket arm to be found for that tremolo and is an original Floyd a perfect fit without relocating the posts?

    Thanks!

My Model 2 came bone stock with a Jackson JT-6 trem and I was told that a real Floyd would line up fine. I'm not sure about the depth of the sustain block, though.

Is that what it is? A JT-6 tremolo is when they run through the fine tuners?

If so great as I'll grind down the block if need be but I was not williing to drill new holes into the body.

          Thanks Mate!

I have a Floyd on my Model 4. Posts line up. not sure about the block as the one on mine is chrome(silver ? ) and the trem itself is black so i supposed someone changed that out. You can get the blocks in different depths though(don't know about new though anymore)right? recessed and non recessed bodies had different depth blocks correct. Search ebay and places to find the right one.

An Ibanez "Sure Grip" arm will fit your JT6 bridge. That's what I have on my Model 3 and Model 5A. Somewhere there's a pile of JT6 whammy bars, I've never seen a Model series guitar with the original arm!

The JT-6 is a double locking trem. The strings don't pass through the fine tuners. The fine tuners are integrated with the locking screws, but the strings are locked down by the blocks just like an OFR. Overall, I like the OFR better, but I actually prefer the JT-6 fine tuner placement. As for a replacement bar, you can also retrofit with a collared floyd arm. There are a few threads about it in the Tech section ( here's one).

Yeah, the JT-6 fine-tuner "barrels" make it look like a single-locker from a distance. I think the quality of metal is pretty poor on the JT-6 (two of my allen heads are stripped pretty good), but the actual design is excellent.

I take it that was the red one? Nice score bro! It does have a JT6 double locking trem BTW. Very cool axe.

I figure that I'll add an original Floyd Rose (or at least a good Schaller version) as well as a Duncan Full Shred wired to a push/pull pot with a bleeder cap.

                      Should sound great!

ps. not sure as to what I'll do about the nut if it's one of those locking nuts behind the regular nut but we'll wait and see.

Why don't you just leave it alone and jam on it awhile. You'll be surprised! Don't let all these JT6 haters here fool ya, those damn things work great!!

Well for starters that stock Jackson pickup will never be as good as a Duncan Full Shred and the stock tremolo has a rather weak metal construction and will never be as good as an original Floyd.

Besides, all of these "mods' are totally reversable so there is no real damage done. It's kind of like taking a good thing and making it better!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I actually don't "hate" the JT6, but the metal is on par with pig iron. Mine actually does stay in tune pretty well. Now if Schaller would make a version if the JT6 and heat-treat the base plate, that would rule.

Well things are certainly looking good for me this week! First I scored that Model 2 for $162.50 and then this afternoon I grabbed a Full Shred for only $25.50

                              Man do I love ebay!

Now all I need is a good used Schaller or Floyd in black and this baby is ready to go!
