• Model 6 vs Model 4?

Ok I have been under the impression that the ONLY difference between the Model 4 and Model 6 was the 6 was neck thru.
Now that I have looked at a Model 4 a little closer the Model 4's body looks diff than my model 6. Is the Model 4 a strat body or dinky style?

Or am i just seeing things? Or am I like the only one who didn't know?

Model 4 is a bolt on 22-fret Strat.

Model 6 is a neckthru 24-fret Dinky (7/8-sized pointy version of Strat body, for those not in the know).

Thanks guys! I knew about the 22 frets (forgot to mention that) and the bolt on. But didn't know about it being a strat. I was looking at some pics of a Model 4 today and thought (those horns don't look as pointy as mine). I guess I just never thought about it before. Cool that clears that up!

Of course someone will probably post how the Model 4 could have maple fretboard etc.....

And the Model 4 was available with a maple fingerboard! The Model 4M. Of interest is the morphology of these Model guitars into the "Contemporary" or "Toothpaste" Charvels. The Model 4 did not have a bound neck and headstock (right?) but the 475 did. The 475 lost the strat body and became a Dinky version. And the Model 6 did not have a headstock painted to match the body paint, but the 650 did. And of course the Model guitars had the JT-6 tremolo whereas the later versions had the (better) Schaller equipped trems.

I also think it's funny how the Model 4 "morphed". At first it just came with dots, no sharkies

One other difference that I didn't see mentioned...the body wood is different. Model 4 is basswood, and Model 6 is Poplar. I know, big deal.

The only things the model 4s and 6s had in common was the electronics, bridges, and headstocks. Other than that they were two completely different animals. Different body shape, wood, neck profile, etc. It's like comparing apples to oranges.
