• How rare are the crackle finishes?

I personally own a "Firecrackle" Predator, I have also seen a white "Desertcrackle" and a sort of tri-color "Rainbowcrackle" on import Charvels.

Were these custom order?

Any idea on how many were made?

Personally I love the Firecrackle finish, I know Budman has that on an earlier Model 6, very sweet!

The firecrackle was offered in 88 only for the models 4,5,6 and some bass models.Desert and rainbow were later. Each firecrackle is unique no two are the same.I love em but rare probably not.

my desertcrackl is from 1991, it is a 375DLX. i´ve seen it on the 375, 475 and the 650 right now.
i don´t think that this was a custom finish only.

Well, the guy wanted to know if they were rare
Actually I like the Crackle jobs, but for a while there everyone had one, so the uniqueness was lost.

My '88 Firecrackle Model 6 is still my favorite guitar to play. I am amazed at how well it makes a below average player (like me ) sound.

Thanks again for the info guys. I guess it might not be that rare, but I know I am the only kid on my block with one

Be proud Kid Predetor you have excellent taste in guitars.
There are so many over hyped guitars these days that don't hold a candle to a model series charvel.Keep up the good taste.I work on a lot of the "other stuff"for people and always get comments on my charvels. One guy (a country music player and fender strat owner)asked about my model 2 with an EMG 85.A guitar with only 1 pickup couldn't be very good tone wise.I told him go plug it in and see for himself. It shut him up real quick.
