Re: Here\'s a recent pic of my Charvels...

Oh...sorry MM...you've been around for quite awhile, so I just assumed you already knew that and were messing with me. Both of your Model 4's would actually be 4A's, then.

HuntinDoug...actually, those are just a few of my axes. If you look at my avatar, you'll see part of my vintage Dean collection. The avatar looks funny, I know. It compressed when I used it here. I also have an '85 San Dimas Rhoads that is not in the photo, because it would look out of place there.

Thanks Mark. The Model 4a had sharkfins and a JT-6 trem, rather than dots and a Kahler. The plain Model 4 was only available in 1986, and after that, the 4a was introduced. But you already knew that, right?

Actually I didn't know that. I have two 1988 model 4s both with sharkies and JT6s but I didn't know they called them 4As. I also had an 86 with Kahler and dots but I sold it. Model 4s are very good axes.

Here ya go Mark, I believe I got this from the 87-88 catalog:

By the way, just as a note, in the 1987 brochure it's still called a Model 4 and it had already changed to the sharks and JT6. So why it was changed to the 4A is beyond me. Interesting..

Ah...thanks Dave, for posting that. It's all hearsay until you can see it with your own eyes.

Dana, I'm glad you still have the salmon colored 650XL! Don't worry, the Model 88 is still here, and doing fine. Thanks!

Yeah, I dont know why I wasnt counting the Plum one. I saw it but I still said 3.
I thought 4A meant something else but now I cant remember for the life of me what it was.

Oooooo. Seeing all those Charvels together like that makes me feel tingly all over
Seriously though, that is a nice collection. I'll have to post Model series "family photo" one of these days ...

And thanks to you guys for the 4a info - I never even knew there was such a thing. The knowledge here amazes me.

Could it be because that they also offered the Model 4M? And just to be even with the as and ms, and cs and ds.. whatever...

I'm just speculating at this point.

Well as we all know now, anything seemed to be possible with the imports. It's as if they just made up the rules as they went along Very valid thought Todd!
