• What Charvelle model?

I'm about to buy a charvel I've found in a nearby secondhand guitar store and I was just wondering if you could help me identify it.
Here are some of the key features.
1)Strat body. No pickguard. 1 EMG Hum. 1 Volume knob
2)Pointy headstock with guitar shaped writing
3)Maple neck. Bolt on. 22 Fret.

Its white with a black headstock and the EMG humbucker is an old one. It has a large EMG logo that takes up the entire front of the Pup and no other logo.

Cheers

Sounds like a Model 1 if it has the vintage trem!

Re: What Charvelle model?

I just bought it this morning for $500 Aust. and I can seriously say it was money well spent. The neck is beutifull and the EMG rips! No problems at all so far apart from a few dings in the back but they dont phase me. I can't stop playing this thing and when im not playing it, I cant stop staring at it!
Great guitar for a great price and I would seriously recomend anyone who has a chance to pick on up
Anyone have any idea what sort of EMG it would be?

Congrats darkknight. Those Model series guitars are great, aren't they?

Of course, pictures are required and expected!

is there anything written on the back of the EMG?

I'll try and get pics soon but it might be a while because I dont have a digital camera.
I havent taken the Pup out yet but I'm presuming its an old discontinued 80's model.
Yeah, the model series are awesome (judging from this one)! How much would a mid condition one go for over there in the states?

i thought this would be a model 2? did only model 2's have the JT6 trems?

Re: What Charvelle model?

I`m sure model 2's had the Kahler Fulcrum before the JT6. The Model 1's I think, if my memory serves me correctly had a scratchplate and three single coils. (Model 1A)

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">All you need to do is look at the logo color to tell what model it is. Unless, of course, the logo is faded and rubbed off.

If it's a silver logo, it's an 81. A gold logo is an 85. A gray logo is a 60. A reddish/copper logo is an 89.
And I think the old 58, which was the predecessor to the 85, which is like a P-90 single coil sound with a little noise to it, was also a gold logo, but I may be wrong on that one.

Joe, does that hold true for the older EMGs too?

JACKSONWOLF, the Model 1A is as you describe, 3 single coils & a scrachplate. But the Model 1 had one humbucker and a trad trem.

Well the Pickup isn't like an EMG I have seen before. It isn't mat black like the ones nowdays, but more like a regular plastic. It has no colour logo or small logo in the bottom right hand corner. The EMG logo is large and centred made out of raised black plastic.
Ring any bells?
Anyway, I'm fully loving this guitar. Anyone else own one?
