Should i buy a Model 2?

Hey Guys,

I have a question: Should i buy a Charvel model 2 guitar with a kahler tremlo and single JB humbucker?, it's black and in mint condition.

The guy asked 275 euro's for it ( thats like uuhm a bit more in dollars, 350 i guess)

I am thinking of buying it, butt i just want to know what you think of it [img]images/icons/grin.gif[/img]

Model 2's are great guitars. $350 is pretty steep, here in the states, though. I don't know if that's the going rate for one over there or not. Also, the Model 2's I have seen with Kahlers have that Kahler Spyder trem, which I don't much care for. I like the Kahler Pro flatmount trem a lot better. Anyway, I love Model 2's, and there are a lot of guys here who do as well. Good luck.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Thanks....275 is really cheap over here....a SL1 cost's around 2400 euro here at my local shop and a dk2 650....so i guess it's a goed deal. I like the big frets on the charvel so i'm gonna buy it anyway [img]images/icons/grin.gif[/img]

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">That's not a Spyder; it's a Kahler Traditional. It has roller saddles like a Standard or Pro, pivots like a Floyd, but rear loads the strings and is more compact, closer in size to a Strat bridge than a Floyd. The Spyder is much more like a Floyd Rose. I like the Standard (brass rollers) and Pro (stainless rollers) myself though.

Yeah, with the price differences and less availability, that sounds like a good price in Europe. Enjoy it!

Hey Morbid...the J90c must be a really good humbucker i guess?

I Was thinking of putting in a EMG 81. I think they kick ass. How would the J90c compare to a emg81?

If its anything like this one of mine then get it because its unreal. This has got a floating trem. which i think is different(better) to a Kahler .

Is that an EMG 89 you have in yours and how do you like it?

I recently picked up a couple Model 2's with the JT6 bridge and think they're excellent guitars. If you can find one in excellent condition at a good price I would get one.

I was leaning toward getting the EMG 85 myself. I like that blue finish and may try to refinish one of mine one day. Do you happen to know what the name of the blue color is on you Model 2?

It almost looks like a Lake Placid Blue Metallic on my monitor.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Well buddy the J90C is a passive pkup though is really hot it's got a ceramic magnet, The EMG 81 is an active pk, and that makes it blown away some others. All depends on the tone you want bro. Some people like EMG, and the others the Jackson pkups. Is a thing of taste...

That color is called Silver blue metallic.It is one of the harder colors to find on a model 2.I have one in this color with a scalloped neck and an EMG 85.Model 2s rock man nice guitar BTW.
P.S. J90c jackson pickups rock as well I love any of the jackson logo'd pickups If you find a JH-2 jackson pickup they are dead on a JB as far as tone.
