• 18V for a JE-1200 board?

I've had a lot of great results with running EMG pickups at 18V, so I was wondering if anyone had tried using 18V with the Jackson 1200 midboost circuit. If anyone's tried this, was there a difference in sound? With EMGs, I notice some extra headroom.

I am NOT CERTAIN, but when you are powering EMGs {be it with 9v or 18v}...you are powering up the BUILT-IN PREAMPS in the pickups - where the JE-1200 is ACTUALLY a MID-BOOST CIRCUIT, and I would be afraid that 18v would BLOW the IC chip in the JE-1200...

...a GOOD PERSON to ASK is Kev Easton at http://www.eastonguitars.com/ , since he worked in the Service area at IMC in Ft. Worth for quite a while. I'll BET that HE can give ya a DEFINITIVE ANSWER on this - BEFORE you BLOW the board trying it on a whim...

Yeah - add to that the fact that the EMGs were designed to withstand 27 volts in the first place. I doubt the same is true for the Jackson preamp.
