sounds great, sell it to me if you happen to sell it

the thing about kahlers for me is not only the sound it´s more that:
they just feel better
everything feels tighter/straighter
i can shred a lot faster
there´s no detuning when i hit the strings hard
i can palm mute better
and they´re easier to string change

I have a project Model 6 s/s/h with three microswitches, vol/tone, and a Kahler. It used to be cream, but is now getting a custom paintjob by a buddy and me. I'm making it black, with hot rod style (thin/thick/thin thin/thick/thin) racing stripes in purple/gold flip-flop, finished off with a sparkle clear coat. I'm painting the headstock in the same flip-flop. Anyone want to suggest what I should do for a logo decal? I'm thinking of logoing it a Jackson, just because it looks nicer and I never intend on selling it.

I love the sound of Kahler-equipped guitars, but I can see why the Floyd guys don't. A heavy metal base plate, bolted flat to the top of the guitar, gives you incredible sustainn with a thick, more midrangey tone. Floyd's only contact at the knife points on two posts, which means a cuting tone with pronounced highs and less sustain. It's all personal preference. I can also set a Kahler up so it will chirp like a Floyd, dive deep like a Floyd, and still stay in tune. It is all a matter of tweaking around with it until you find what works for you--there is a lot more room for individual customization with a Kahler.

not to mention you get all that with a SINGLE-locking tremolo!

Exactly! No clipping ball ends, no dealing with alan keys at the bridge. Kahler's get a bad rap because people forget to keep the roller saddles cleaned and lubed.

Re: how many 86´ model 6(kahler) were built, how m

Well... If it's just for '86 ones I'll back off, but my C705924 does have a Kahler. I bought it with a JT6 though, but I managed to find a NOS Kahler 2700 trem for cheap (100 euros) so I had that put on, did take the drilling of 2 little holes, but she's a player anyway. I love the guitar to death (bought it used about 6 or 7 months ago) and anything to improve the quality is good for me, so I changed the bridge pickup to a DiMarzio ToneZone (the J50BC just didn't appeal to me) and had the 2700 put on, now she doesn't detune at all, and I can change strings without ball-end clipping etc. even though it's double locking, ingenious tremolo Best guitar I've played so far.

Edit: First post on this board

Beautiful guitar. How does that Kahler feel? I have an old 1985 BC Rich NJ series that has the Kahler "Flyer" tremolo system, is that the same as yours?

I read elsewhere on this board that the Kahler flatmount would have a fuller sound due to lack of spring cavity, do you find that to be true?

Does anyone know where I can buy an excellent condition Model 6?

Thanks.

Well, sometimes they pop up in the Classifieds forum....unfortunately as a Junior Member, you can't access that forum yet (You have to intro yourself here, contribute 100 posts). Until then, you can check on eBay.

Gotta blue 87' Mod 6 and a red 86' Mod 6 that'll be here on Thursday.

Love my blue one which is why I went after another one.

My 87' has a Floyd and the 86' coming has a Kahler. I've never worked with Kahler's so I'm looking forward to it.
