There's a Model 4 up now where the seller refers to it as an '84 San Dimas (Ft. Worth), then refers to all the email he's received trying to convince him it's an '87. "The friend I'm selling it for says he bought it new in '84 and the serial number proves it's a San Dimas." I guess he suffers from the rare form of blindness that drops the last 2 digits of a serial number. It's annoying, but I don't think too many (if any) of these guitars end up selling for more than they would have if they were correctly described. It probably only ends up hurting them, since people who know & love import Charvels don't want to deal with morons or outright dishonest sellers. I figure, if the guy's such an idiot that he can't do a couple minutes worth of research to figure out what the hell he's selling, what kind of packing/shipping can I expect? If he's intentionally lying about where the guitar was made, can you believe what he says about the condition or even trust the pics?

Looks like enough emails finally convinced him. Link. To make up for the fact that it's an import, please note that the guitar is now in "Mint" condition.

Boys, You have to remember that a lot of these sellers buy these guitars at yard sales and such. They see "Fort Worth" and think they have the equivalent of a USA Fender or Gibson. Anybody ever hear of Hayman guitars and basses? I had not, but I bought a bass for $10.00 at a yard sale. Did my research, as you suggest, and sold it for $500. "Your mission, Mr. Phelps, is to find the seller who is as dumb as dirt and buy dirt-cheap." Now, if we are on a "Mission from God", then we shall inform all these ignorant dolts just how mis-informed they can be when they list a FW as USA. "God, it's good to be so smart."

"Although a US address appears on the guitar a few eBay members have written to say that this instrument was made in Japan. Perhaps this is true."

So C/J did guitars in Fort Worth, too? (Just kidding... )

AMIC's corporate address was in Fort Worth, Texas. Japanese Charvel bolt-ons from about 1986 - 1990 came with neckplates that had that address on 'em. Lots of guys who don't know this assume these import Charvels were made in Ft. Worth (ie, USA).

I had seen them mentioned on ebay, and knew that they were bogus, but I didn't know why, the whole story.

                            Thanks.
