  • Charvel 88 Model (with porn)

just got my first charvel. i picked it up for £425, which included a hard case. its my favourite guitar by far. it has the best feel, tone and playability. it totally surpasses my Jackson performer in all areas. when i bought it i didnt know it had such a rich history, and i didnt even know it was limited edition. its serial number is 0465. it has a few scratches which previous owners have caused. i think its the original J95 (?) pickup. the trem might be stock but i dunno, its Schaller, licenced under Floyd Rose. i already know the locking nut has been added after the guitar was bought. i've added the silver nob myself.

    here's a few pics.

any more info on this wonderful guitar would be appreciated a great deal.

It looks like that schaller is a single locker.

it does, doesn't it? Is it definitely a Schaller? The original might've been swapped out.

definately a Schaller. it is a single locker. the strings go through the back, they lock at the nut though. maybe i will put a non-recessed floyd on there.

The original would have been a JT6, which I don't like, but for me is still preferable to a single locking trem. Looks like the original JT6 locking nut was replaced with a fingerlocking unit....

of course. brainfart. I forget Schallers weren't standard equipment at that stage.

Nice Model 88. I've always wanted one of those. There's something about sharkfins and a reverse headstock that just kicks ass!

Very nice! All you need is a black knob and a JT6 and that would be completely original.

Oddly that is the 2nd 88 I've seen with the finger tite lock nut.JT-6 trem, reg Kahler behind the nut string lock and a black knob and it would be a stocker.I keep parts around for things like this.
                    Really? well screw Mark Twain.

That's like an original version of the Floyd Rose II. They're crap (were they even made by Schaller?) I've got one of those I took off my old Kramer from '86 or '87. It says Floyd Rose II, no mention of who made it or where it was made. Put a double-locking JT-6 back on there or a real Floyd or Schaller, you'll be much happier.

                      Nice guitar, BTW.

Are you sure it was a Kahler? Jackson made their own version of that string lock.

Looks like a Charvel branded Schaller.

                            Very nice guitar, bro.

Henrik has a great pic of a Floyd II & one of these (JT-570, single locking) side by side. Looks like the Charvel trem has the "made in Germany" stamp just like the Schaller JT-590 does.
