Gush about Model 4

Since the year they were released, Ive wanted a Model 4. I spent hours staring at the catalog. Being newly married, money was tight and the spousal unit vetoed me getting one.
Finally, I got one the other day from Ebay. Its black, (my second choice next to black cherry). I have been through alot of guitars since the 80s and have loved and enjoyed many, but this model 4 is divine. The neck is like it was custom made for me, I play better and faster on it. The look is aggresive yet classy. Stare at it like a school kid.
Funny that a guitar I dreamed of back then would turn out to be my perfect match now.. I wonder where my playing would be if I had got it then??
Needless to say, my GAS days are over. Im fulfilled. I have only one more axe to buy. A black cherry model 4

oh yes, rock they do. Mine's in need of some serious work courtesy of a previous owner, so I don't play it much. But it is a damn fine player all the same. Once I pull my finger out and rewire the pickups, I'm sure it'll get much more regular play time.

I dont know what it is... But, those Charvel imports are just top notch. I have a hard time putting mine down.

notice how the single coil routes are different, and the red one has a floyd style Kahler locknut, I think the red one is 88 & the white one is 87?

they made them86-88, 86 had a kahler, 87&88 had the jt-6 jackson licsenced Floyd Rose trem.

Congrats! Your charvel buying days have only begun. next you will want a model 6. I kick myself everytime I remember I had a model 4 and sold it. Then I just go and play my 6.

I'm with you on that theory. I believe the Kahler "floyd style" nut was a late 88 and 89 deal only.

Pretty sure the 4M was '88 only, at least catalog-wise. Are you positive those single routes on the red one are factory? That would be the only time I've ever seen that on a Model Series. My guess is that someone just did a really nice job modding it for the lipped replacement singles. Regardless, they are both awesome!

I just bought a Mod 4 Black Cherry off Superfly about 6-8 months ago. Nice gitar and feels good. Congrats!

Funny, back then I always perceived charvel as a baby Jackson, but I like the model 4 so much better than I like my DK2. Matter of fact, the DK2 may be sold so I can have some cash for when I find a nice Black cherry 4.
