Dang Mark, hate to see that happened. I know to most of us it may seem like it's preaching to the choir, but there may be some people on here who don't know the value of packing the body tight so it can't move.

I totally agree with your idea of putting the minty neck on the minty body. Hopefully another neck will come down the pike for you.

Damn, that is sad.Additional insurance wouldn't have helped much, they would have determined it to be packed inadequately anyway.

I agree, minty neck on minty body, and repair the other until you have another replacement.

        Mark,
How about this reverse maple as a replacement. http://cgi.ebay.com/Charvel-Neck-rev...em220032094474
Just throw a Kahler nut on it. That would look killer.

I had a Model 2 shipped in a chainsaw case. The seller did pack a little around it (the guitar and neck) but he taped the case closed really tight and it arrived in perfect shape.

            Hope this helps.

Wow that is painful to see! I had that happen to me with a Kramer Pacer that I bought last year. The seller packed it in a gigbag and put that in a huge box with NO PADDING! Needless to say, the headstock was snapped off just like yours...

WRT to the chainsaw cases, I've noticed that some are more form-fit than others. My Model 6 case is tight enough that if you try to slide it toward the headstock, the body makes contact & won't let the headstock make contact. Not so with my 750XL. The headstock bottoms out before the body stops it. Even if a case has a tight fit, I'd still add some padding if there is any movement at all, just in case it takes a hard hit.

Dana nailed it! eBay should buy your text and post it on their front page!

Mark & Alvin: damn, that sucks! I got a stomach burn when I read your posts.

damn that sucks ....thats why sometimes I am willing to drive up to 5-6 hours to pick up a guitar I really want.
You just never know what it looks like until you get it.
I like to see it in person before I buy it if I can help it.
                              In that situation,
I would make one mint one and make the chipped/repaired one a workhorse
That way you have one sweet one to look at and one to manhandle.

post pics of the repair if you could.

The repair turned out very nice. It was very hard to get it to photograph, but if you look closely you can see it. The fact is, it doesn't look terrible, and that's probably the strongest part of the headstock now, but the resale value is probably screwed because of it.
