    model2 newbie

    Yup,
    Just found this forum..
    I have had a model 2 since 1988..
    after "falling off" of playing over the years im back. Of all the guitars Ive owned this black model 2 Ive decided is the best sounding guitar Ive ever owned! It came with a floyd "style" Kahler I upgraded in the 80s to kahler 2700.

    I have a question..thanks for all your responses..I just aquired another model2 has a broken headstock..Im gonna replace the neck with a fender "headstock style" neck.
    heres the questions..

    (a) What specifications are gonna feel the closest to my model2..? neck radius, neck width, nut size etc..?
    (b) what brands do all you guys recommend.?
    (c) again, what aftermarket "strat head" is gonna be closest in design to my model 2 all the way down to the fret board shape thats "boxey" down at the 22nd fret.?

    Welcome to the board! Musikraft.com has the closest offering to the original Charvel dimensions. 2 1/4" heel, 1 11/16" nut, 12-16" compund radius, ''thin" profile, and 6100 frets. That should fit your needs just fine!

      Can someone give me the specifics as to what the technicals were on the Model 2 neck..

      also I havent found that much recent info on the model2 on this forum..
      How deos the model 2 stack up as far as sound against the compatible/same year single humbucker actual SanDimas Charvel..same time frame give or take a year or2..

        Technicals? Well....the model 2 necks were made out of maple and rosewood, and they used like woodworking tools and stuff to build them.

          The Model 2 against an older SD. Sort apples to oranges. Different body woods and the old SD came with better components.

          But sand the finish off the back of the Model neck drop in a better pickup and a floyd, it is a guitar that can hang with any. I love my model 2s. Awesome guitars.

              No, the necks were made out of maple! They could be had with either maple or rosewood fretboards, though.

              And all the bolt-on series Models had baswood bodies, the neck-thrus were poplar.

                    I said "forums" not this forum..
                    Most of us hre are looking for inteligent answers to our questions.
                    responses like "hey dude they like used wood working tools and stuff and like wood to make them there guitars" deos kinda suck dont you think..
                    not trying to cause trouble... that all I will say..

                        Yeah, we need a swag area with one item:
