Well my very first Charvel landed back in my hands. An 86 model 1A very yellowed cream color nice maple /maple neck.It has been sitting in a mom and pop music store for the last 7 years no takers. She came home now the cleaning begins.Such a touching moment.

    Just got done playing mine.

They're awesome guitars, the necks are great.

Awesome, congrats! That's my favorite color for those, followed closely by the red. Quick question for you, Richard: does the '86 Model 1 have a non-recessed trem cavity cover or is it recessed like most other Model series covers?

I have an early 86 model 2 body and its not recessed either.striaght neck pocket too.Just got done cleaning it up recrowned the frets, smoothed out the nut slots, strung it up,tweaked the pickups and man its sweet.Nice quacky strat tone it can take some serious gain too(too a degree)very nice on the dirty channel.I feel an rsguitarworks upgrade kit will be going in this week then talk about tone .

Thanks! I was wondering about the plate because there's someone trying to pass off a Model 1 body as a possible SD, & only the non-recessed plate made me unsure. The guy either photoshopped 1 of his pics or actually re-carved the belly cut before the refin, but everything else screams Model 1.

Thats not a bad deal really. If it were an SD body I don't think it would have had a trem cover.I'd say a refinned model 1 very cool, a fair price IMO.I would mount the pickup in a ring then it would look right.

Well the 1A got an rsguitarworks premium pot upgrade kit as well as a new switchcraft 5 way switch and she absolutly screams on the dirt channel and is smooth and blusey on the clean channel.Very sparkely on the bridge pickup and middle and fat and blusey on the neck.Wired the tone to work on the bridge pickup not the middle.Very versitile. The J 100s are great pickups very noise free for a single.I did wire all the original grounds and boy did she get quiet.
