  • What did I just buy?

    Ok, heres the pic.

Im thinking its a late 90's import but I cant find any specs on it. Its a LSX III. Looks to have a switched out humbucker too. Seems like a wilkinson bridge but doesnt appear to be a trem. Nice headstock! That thing would make a nice canoe paddle for sure. Couldnt find it in any of the catalogs online. Looking for specs such as wood used, etc.

The body shape is similar to that of a Charvel Questar, which may have been a Japanese market only guitar.

          Here's the '95 LSX scan:

They are the bolt-on counterpart to the LS-1, which was a set-neck archtop. The LS-1 was basically the Charvel version of the Jackson Infinity Pro, with the big differences being the "gumby" headstock vs. the pointy for the Infinity Pro, and the different bridges. Scans for the LS-1 & Infinity Pro:

Shape reminds me a little of the NASL, although not as harmonious.

Cool, I couldnt find that. Interesting that mine has pickup rings and a fixed bridge and says lsx3 on the truss cover, yet the catalog scan says the LSX1 has the fixed bridge and none have rings. And yet the spec sheet that I found lists the lsx3 with a fixed bridge. Strange. Maybe the rings were added when the bridge pickup was swapped out.

No, it was available here. I remember seeing them in the MF catalog in the mid '90s.

I have a Japanese only Charvel that no one could ID. Someone actually did eventually. But they kept talking about the Gumby headstock. And here it is. Why buy it? Because it's cool.

I found one on Ebay a while back and of course I bought it. Mainly because I had never seen one before. Mine has a Wilkinson trem and the Gumby headstock. I forget if it has rings or not.

If I knew it was a Gumby guitar I wouldn't have made fun of it. LOL

Why? Because it was $129 shipped for a cool charvel import. Possibly a dimarzio or SD zebra pickup in the bridge. A cheap cure for GAS!!
