  • Surfcaster doubleneck

These doesn´t pop up often and I´ve been after one for a couple of years.
Scored this of German eBay, thanks to pepper for letting me know about the auction.

Anymore info on these would be greatly appreciated.
I´ve read all the old surf-threads BTW

One thing I find a bit strange is that the 12 neck board is ebony, while the 6 is rosewood. Seems to be like that on the one that´s pictured in the JCF gallery too though. That belonged to Joe/Charvel750 wich I bought my first Surfcaster from BTW.

According to seller, completely mint, of course not true, but very close, just a couple of small dents on the backside.
Colour is dark green sparkle, maybe not my fave finish, but hey, it´s a doubleneck Surf

It truly plays great, honestly, I didn´t dear to wish for anything close.
Very low action on both necks, buzzez slightly on the 6 string though.

Cool doubleneck. The Surfcaster is growing on me, but I doubt I'll ever get around to buying one.

Sweet score & nice collection. I've been wanting a Surfcaster since I first saw them. Would've been nice if they'd put the same size logos on the headstocks - things like that get on my nerves. LOL

Is that a GRB Surfcaster 2nd from the left? I have been looking at those. Any good in comparison to the real thing? Oh yeah very cool score on the double neck!

                    Yeah, that´s a GRB.
They´re pretty well done. The neck is slightly thicker than the original surf-neck.
Mine had a couple of flaws in the binding, but other than that the finish is very good.
Mine also have some fretbuzz, according to GRB they´ve solved that problem now with better fret-dressing.

Of course it totally lacks mojo though .
I´m a Surf-fan and the GRB can´t match it, but if you want a brand new guitar of (absolutely) decent quality and like the specs and looks, it´s a cool replica for sure.

Very Nice Guitars, I saw one on the Bay (Jackson Surfcaster) It is mint or close, but pricey! Someday, i'll get one, the double neck would be very nice

                        Cool doubleneck!

What kind of nut is that on the 6-string neck? It looks like a type of roller-nut, but I've never seen one quite like it...Are there grooves in the rollers which keep the string in place?

That looks like one of those nuts that fits a floyd rout and makes it a "normal" nut. I have one or 2 of those laying around somewhere. I believe theres just a groove in the roller that keeps the strings in place. The orange one looks to have one too. Does it work? (keep in tune with mild trem usage).

Ok, I've stuck my tongue back in my face and cleaned up the drool.
Surfcasters my next guitar ownership obsession. Not really sure which model to get and the Jackson Surfers look nice too. I just dropped a wad on a Hamer Monaco Elite P-90 Goldtop so it's going to take awhile to getting my loose change built up again. Then it will be a Surfcaster hunt.
Perhaps someone may have some suggestions???????..........

Yep, there´s grooves in the roller for the strings. The trem Surfs have that kind of nut.
I have no idea who made them, if it´s selvproduced by Charvel or whatever.

It will go out of tune with hard trem use, but I think better tuners would help a lot.
Surfs have these more vintage Kluson type of tuners.
When that is said, I´ve experienced licensed Floyds that are far worse.
