  • PUP replacement questions Ynot mp3s?

Y'know, I've never been satisfied with the sound I get from my
stock j100s. The j90c bridge hb just rocks but the singles just kinda sit
there and don't inspire...would really like to dial in Clapton' s woman
tone (I know I know I don't have Soldanos) but it ain't happening.

I have been lurking for some days now looking at all the threads about
replacement PUPS, and I was wondering if anyone had mp3s of clean
non-processed PUP sounds with Hot and Cool rails, also some of the
JBs or Duncan Distortion or the EMG81s so many of you like...

If not would there be someone willing to make some?

Might be a good resource for others looking for an clearer idea rather
than having to go by guesswork. IMHO Language is kinda ineffectual
when it comes to describing sounds.

If you swear by your sound so vehemently let's hear why.

Of course feel free to put some in WITH all the effects to
show off your sound to it's best advantage

Plus think of the fun we'll all have getting to hear each other!!

    Looking forward to shred city.

I promise to make some myself if others do...

    Cheers!

I totally agree. This is a great idea.

In fact, when I decided to swap out the stock pup in my DK2 for a Duncan Distortion I had the same idea. I made a small recording of my stock pups so I could compare with the new sound. Once I got the new Duncan put in and heard the difference I didn't even bother making a recording of new pickup because it was SOOOOOO obvious. (This was my first pup change BTW so I didn't know what to expect).

Well I thought it would be a good idea..but not too many takers have
bellied up to the bar. (hummph)

*Yes I have found the recordings on the Seymour Duncan site, I just
wasn't satisfied with them, as there is NO INFORMATION on what
they used that might color the sound.

Would love to hear what you've got...

I don't have any MP3s for you but this is what SD says they used in there sound bytes
Hand-crafted electric guitar pickups, acoustic guitar pickups, bass pickups and pedals. Helping musicians find their signature sound since 1976.

If you what clapton's sound the rail pickups are not what you are looking for in a single coil replacement since they're humbuckers.
