Model One Question

I just scored a black model one in perfect condition and I think all original.
My question is about the volume knob. It has a speed knob on there, sort of a Gibson style. They may be common on model ones and I just hadn't seen one before. If that is original, can it help me to identify the year of the guitar? I'm just curious. I have no idea what year the guitar is.

It's black, single covered Jackson humbucker, vintage trem, maple fretboard.

That knob is not original. It is from 1986-1988.
