  • Dual hums?

I searched the audiozone.dk-scans but couldn't find anything, so I'm just gonna ask:

Is there any other Charvel pointy with two humbuckers other than the 750xl or the model 5? I'm looking at one, but I'm not sure if it's a mod..

    Thanks in advance!

what are the specs of the guitar you're looking at (apart from having 2 hums, obviously)?

I bet it's a 3A like Scotty said. One other 2 hum pointy was the Fusion Plus. You don't see them often and they are pretty different looking, 24 frets with offset dots and trans-finished ash body. I think it's in the '91 catalog.

        -edit- What Gary said...

The thing is, I found it on the web - and the guitar is in Denmark, and I'm going there next weekend so I thought I'd might bring a guitar back home..

Here's what the seller says, I've sent him a mail, but no reply yet:

Serial: 288475, two jackson humbuckers, floyd rose, regular pointy headstock..With case, asking 300 usd roughly..

He doesn't say anything about a pickguard, so my guess is that it's not a 3A though..Or did the 3a also come without pickguard?

          Thanks in advance guys!

            3A had a pickguard in '86 (also a Kahler Fulcrum trem), no pickguard for '87 - '88 (JT-6 trem).

So they skipped the pg when they changed the trem?

Yes. Not sure if they were directly related, but both changes happened from '86 to '87.

Here it is, a model 3..If the seller manages to hold on to it, then I'm getting it next weekend:

He's asking 360 usd, including the chainsaw case..And considering Charvels are harder to come by over here, I don't think that's a bad price..

Yes, that is a Model 3A. I had two of them, and let them go to JCF members.

Check and make sure that the allen key holes of the string locking screws (inside the fine tuners) for the JT-6 aren't stripped before you plunk down your money. The metal that those screws are made of is pretty soft...

Haha, I contacted the seller, and he's willing to hold on to the guitar until next weekend, and I think the price is ok, so I told him I'll take it..

Seems to me that I've bought another guitar! YAY!

Look again, JT-6's have slot-head string locks. Kahlers have the allen key version. That sure looks like a JT-6 to me
