  • Floyd Q...

Hey everyone...long time reader, first time poster. I just picked up a Model 5a from a fellow JCF'er which I'm really digging. He'll probably chime in here as well. He changed the LFR out to a Jackson Schaller unit, which appears to be really nice, and years better than the crap JT580 which came on my Dinky (which I replaced with a OFR).

My question is...is the Schaller a good unit, or will I gain anything by switching it out for a OFR?

Also, the behind the nut string clamp...any secrets to prevent the guitar from going out of tune with tremelo use, or is it a pretty solid deal?

    TIA

No need to change it for an OFR .

Not sure about behind the nut string clamps...

The Schaller is a very good trem overall. The Jackson stamped versions don't have hardened steel inserts for the screwholes though, so be careful when locking things down - it's easy to strip the threads on those.

Oh, and welcome to the JCF!
      That's a funny nick.

Behind the nut locks work just fine. The Schaller unit is a very good trem just as good as an OFR.
