  • Charvel Idenification

I recently inherited a Charvel guitar. It was the 1st guitar I ever played and they were going to sell it for the burial, but my grand mother saw to it that I got it, since she knew what it meant to me. It's the guitar that got me into playing guitar nad to buy Jacksons/Charvels

    Okay, I "think" it's a 1986 Model 5.

It's black cherry metallic. It's neck through body. The SN is C602023. it has 2 humbuckers (Jackson) with active electronics, 3 controlls, 5 way selector, a kahler (I don't know too much about kahlers, so I don't know the model). 24 frets, no binding, and the headstock says Charvel witht eh guitar logo, by Jackson/Charvel.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Yep, '86 Model 5

You didn't mention the inlays but it should have 24 frets on rosewood with dot inlays.

Sounds like a Model 5 to me.

Here's the spec page from the 86 catalog (thanks to Henrik)

And here's a pic of an '88 5A from the gallery:

Great guitar - my "5" is C603175. The Kahler is a 2320 Standard should you ever need parts. Congrats!

I'll take pictures and post them today.

Yeah, 24 frets, with dots on rosewood. Same color as the one posted above. It's hard to believe how clean this guitar is for 21 years.

I checked a completed auction, and found this guitar. You know what's funny...it's one serial number before mine! haha. Same color too!
