I always loved that color combo with the maple board.
This black one is only about 600 (oops...poor math...6000...I slipped a digit!!) away in serial number from the white one which is cool regardless of whether they picked them out of a bin or applied them in numerical order. The black one is also quite worn...but not the frets...so who really cares? A lot of surface scratches and stuff but it is a great player. Here's a pic I really like with the white one and the USA Jackson in it...

Yeah...too bad the forum doesn't have a minimum IQ.

And how does it sound compared to other Duncans?
Very curious over here!
Seymour Duncan allowed the forum members to design a pickup. We voted on what type, strength, magnet etc..
The final product is a Trembucker with the PATB shaped poles, its wound at about 13.5 so its not overly hot, but not vintage and an alnico 8 magnet. Its called a Crazy 8.
Comparison: Hmm... Well, first, with the PATB spacing, there are no dropouts when bending and the pickup makes up for any losses that a floating trem may cause. This particular pup doesnt have a big low end like a Custom 5, but it still has a great chug.. The main curve on this is in the uppermids. Its great for leads!! But, never sounds shrill or icepicky. My one small dislike is that it has just alittle bit of Hifi type of sound. Its not bad at all, and some people like that.. I just like more of an organic sound. But, as I said, its not so bad that I would even consider changing it.. Again, it screams for leads and pinch harmonics are about as easy as will my EMGS.
I had a Rio BBQ in the guitar (whats in the picture). I love the BBQ and love its warm organic sound.. But honestly, the 4 has such a huge accoustic sound and is so strong, the BBQ was almost too BIG sounding.
This new one cuts for leads.
Did that help?

looks like a carbon fiber overlay..???
Man, these charvels are awesome! Look so cool and play like a dream!
My dream Charvel back when they were new was a Black Cherry Model 6. Id still love one, but would rather have a pristine Black Cherry 4 Or 5A. The one posted earlier made me drool.
Is the 5A a smaller body like the 6? I love the single bucker look. I like the neck thru but love the big ole plank of my 4s.
