Well, I'm pretty sure it's a Model 6 anyway from what I've seen around here, and despite my scant knowledge on all things Charvel.

Great player, mint condition except for a small ding. Fairly unimpressed with the stock pickups though, might change them out... Do the usual replacement pickups work well with the active mid boost?

Also, if I've got it correct, a C8xxxx serial makes it an '88?

Nice one! Congrats! As for the midboost, it seems like most folks get rid of it when they upgrade the pickups. I left mine in when I put in a Duncan Custom & Hot Rails. It's not bad, but the boost doesn't seem to have as much of an effect as it did with the J-50BC, and especially with the J-200s, which really need the active system or they sound like ass. I think it gives a bit more of a compressed sound compared to how the Custom sounds in my other guitars with that pickup. I don't dislike it, but I don't think it adds much of a benefit except that it was a little less involved when I did the swap.

Nice score! Love the pearl white color. I have 2 '87 model 6s stock with the factory pickups. For me, the tone is pretty good so I haven't bothered swapping them out. Try them out for a while and see if Jackson pups grows on you.

Thanks guys! I might monkey around with pickup heights and see if that improves the sound to me. It should, hopefully, cos I remember rather liking the J50C that was in the Model 3A I had.
