550xl quality?

So where does an 550XL stand qualitywise? I have an 750XL and it is great with tasty tone and I really dig the short scale. Can a 550xl come close to it or is it kinda a cheapy model?

I dont know much about Charvels so please share your opinions/advice.

The 550 is an exceptional Charvel. It's basically a 650 minus the active circuitry, sharks, binding, and middle single coil. However, it does have the same playability and neck profile. I have an electric blue one with chrome hardware and it is easily on par with the quality you already know from the 750.

Bear in mind that it will sound and play a little differently due to the scale and woods though. Not that that's a bad thing.

the 550 is a great guitar. As Joe said, it's the same basic platform as the 650 but without all the fancy appointments. Mine is solid as a rock.
