Well, I can give you a general thign for the CX series:

    Made in Japan around 1992
    Basswood Bodies
Vintage trems on the 290 series, Takeuchi (sp?) JT-580s on the 390s
    Gotoh Tuners
The single coil pickups used in the CX series was the J110, and the Humbucker used was the J55

I don't know anything about your 692 though. Can you give me the specs?

Hmm, interesting you say single locking trem, when the 390s had Double Locking, yet this has a higher number, and the way the series went, the higher the number the better the features. Also interesting it has a Poplar body instead of basswood. It was never listed in the catalogs though. I'd love to know the story behind it. The CX series were great guitars, but they were introduced in Charvel's twilight years and never really got any attention (and not too many sales either it seems).

well, it did have a single locking trem, but i changed it for a double locking...
about poplar, i don't know, but it doesn't seem likely...
          maple/rosewood, seems right though...
how come it wasn't listed in the catalogs??

This is correct. I had a red one. I always assumed it was basswood, I guess you learn something new every day. It had the god awful wb2 trem (wammy bar 2). The neck was nice. One interesting thing about it was that the wiring was not soldered to the pots and such. All the wiring was like spot welded to their contacts. No solder used at all.
