Help To Identify This Charvel Year & Style

Can anyone assist me in identifying the year of my Charvel and what it might be worth?

Early Model 2. What is the deal with the logo? It looks strange. It only worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it.

The logo looks strange due to the resolution of this photo. The lighting is by a window. It is indeed the Charvel logo and under it it says "By Jackson/Charvel".

What does Early Model 2 mean? What year is this guitar?

The 24 serial number means it was made in 1924. Nah, just kidding. :ROTF: I have no idea.

That logo does look a bit weird though. Have you recently acqiured it? Maybe it's been refinned?

Logo is for real. I will get some better photos and post them. If anyone can tell me the year of this axe, it is much appreciated.

I had e-mailed Charvel (now Wayne Guitars) and got a response that they thought it might be an '84 era guitar. But not sure and to check with you guys.

Due to the Fulcrum trem I would say 86. The dots at the 12th fret look right so I would say it is a stock neck. I guess in the photo the logo just looks crocked.

Charvel is not "now" Wayne guitars. Different (copycat) animal. Charvel still exists as its own brand. And Wayne wouldn't know s**t about that guitar, as he left the Jackson/Charvel company loooonnng before these imports started being made. Heck, he left way early on for the earlier USAs, too.

It's good that he sent you to the right place, though.

No prob. Hope you didn't take that the wrong way. It's just that Wayne has sometimes has a tendency to take credit for some things that happened in J/C's history well after he left the company. i.e., Things he had nothing to do with. I'm sure he's a cool guy and all, and we wouldn't have Charvel without him. But some of what is says needs to be taken with a grain of salt, too.

Nice 86' man, I have an 86' as well with a scalloped fretboard. You will find a lot of info on the 'model series' guitars in the import section.

1986 Model 2, made in Japan (the import office was in Fort Worth, Texas).
Body: Basswood, full size strat.
Neck: 22 jumbo frets, Maple neck with rosewood fretboard.

1986 was the only year they used Kahler bridges on the model series. Those were later replaced with the Jackson JT-6; a Floyd-style, double locking trem.

I'm not sure what pickup was on the model 2. I'm guessing J-90C?
