The body of the guitar in your photo looks thinner also.
I thought that at first, but after closer inspection of the trem posts and control layout, it does look like a Model 2.
I suspect the idiot that repainted it probably used a power sander and it altered the body shape a bit.

A pic of the rear of the guitar should confirm if that is the case or not.

The body does look very round, but I think the Kahler seals it as a Model 2. It would be nice to see the back.

I don't think it's a model 2 either. If someone rounded out the horns, they might not look that uniform, if that makes sense. It's been too hacked to have that even of a sand job on the horns...

Dan, I just picked up a mint Model 2 for $125. I only tell you that because it's gonna take alot more money than that to fix yours. I'd would be interested to hear what you paid for that monstrosity...

yeah I agree, too rounded of edges for that to be a Model 2 body. the horns look wrong also.
the guitar players look damaged - they've been outcasts all their lives

This Sucks. Well I am watching the Model 2 Body on Ebay Right now,and since I have all the parts(Well the Kahler wont Work ) It just might be more efficient. The sad thing is,I was blinded by the Love of the Charvel and I paid $120 for that Guitar!!!! But I explained to my Wife that even if the body was in great shape,it would cost AT LEAST $100 for a Black Paint Job. The Neck is in GOOD Shape, and almost all the parts are there (Including a Seymour Duncan Custom Custom) . The rear cavities look IDENTICAL to the other Charvels,I just think more and more I see the body, somone went haywire and hacked up the Body. Does anyone have a Model 2 Body in better shape that I have for sale?(Since I dont have acess to the Buy-Sell section yet )

Bengal got a good deal. Don't let that bring you down. Build that guitar the way you want it and it is your guitar.

See I shouldve known something,Because I remember back in the late 80's playing my First Charvel Model 2 it felt awesome, but When I picked this up,the Body felt weird. The neck felt great, but I had a Gut feeling something was wrong, but I went with my heart,The bridge sat like a late 70's Camaro with Air shocks, and was unplayable, but I took a chance. The Hunt is on!!

                  Scotty,
I did get a good deal. But Model 2's should be had for 200-250 bucks. So it's not that good of a deal...

My point was, it may take more than that to make his where he wants it to be. If that is the case, he might be better off just getting another one...

                  Dan,
If you like this guitar, there is nothing wrong with fixing it up. It just may take some dough. It's all in your priorities...

Dan, you may be able to get your money back by parting it out. You can get 75ish for the neck, 25 or so for the plate, etc. Then just keep your eyes peeled for one that's less of a project.

+1 I agree. Find one that will be less work and correct. If your paint quote was $100, that is a killer deal if the finish will meet your quality requirements.

Well I put the Body on Ebay, with Pics of the Back like people wanted.I just want a Non-Beat Up Charvel Model 2 that looks/plays good I think for the price of a Paint Job(Lets say ~ $100-$125) and time to strip, etc,I can get a better,Not Beat-up,already painted Body(I hope). I mean the neck is in Great shape, and the rest of the parts are in very Good Condtion(Well the Kahler is a different story, nothing bad) so does anyone have a Good Shape Model 2 Body??

this is the other reason I really doubt that was a Model 2 body.
my M2 is rather heavy, and I've never picked up a light Model series.

combined with the photos, I'd have to say that no way was that a M2, it was simply passed off as one by the liar who sold it to you.

a shame, but keep looking and you'll find the real thing eventually.

Pic of the back from the auction:

Anyone know if these had non-recessed trem cavity covers in '86? I know they had recessed covers when they had JT-6 trems. Here's a later Model 2 body for comparison:

The other little discrepancy is the top left area of the control route. See the little spot where it widens right about where the volume pot goes? Dan's doesn't have that, but again I don't know if that was just something the later ones had. Anyone with an '86 Model 2 know for sure? Also, just in case anyone's wondering, the route is definitely not San Dimas, because of the way the corner is cut on the top right of the route. Belly cut looks a little longer on Dan's, but I think if somebody re-contoured all the edges that would explain it. I think it really is a Model 2 that's been through the ringer, and somebody was better at sanding the edges than they were at painting.
