  • Found a Model 2 here locally..

Guy is selling his Model 2, in id say 7 of 10 condition. Small chip by the neckplate and thats about it. Old strings, needs a setup.

What would you say is a good price for a used one like this? Its all stock I am pretty sure, Jackson trem, Jackson Bucker.

    He is asking $175.

A great deal would be $200 or less especially if it has a case

Sounds like a good deal to me. If you can steal it for $150 it would be even better. Model 2's in decent shape fetch $250 easy. Nice clean shape will pull over $300 all day long.

Ok I got it. I did very well. The guitar had a few more issues than I anitipated but nothing major.

There is a film on te guitar, like oxidation, needs a good buffing I think. It comes off with good scratching of the nail. Anyone know whats a good cleaning or rubbing compound to clean this with?

Some minor rust in the trem (original Jackson Floyd- no fine tuners) some WD-40 should fix it up.

Neck is straight as an arrow. Pickup is original. It was missing the locking nuts but the nut is there.

          thats about it. Paid $95!

Here is a pic of the oxidation, if anyone can offer any advice on cleaning that it would be appreciated.

Ill post more pics once its cleaned up.

Oh yea the Volume knob is missing as well.

Well, it looks like it's Electric Blue and has the JT-6.

FYI, the fine tuners are at the rear of the bridge, you screw them in and out to adjust fine tuning. The revolve around the string lock screws in the middle of them.

Great score for $95! Now, post a bunch of before and after pics and show us how she turns out!

Cant do much until I figure out how to get this oxidation off! I tried WD-40....makes it disappear while the WD-40 is on it but then when i wipe it off it comes right back.

Im thinking about taking this trem off and just slapping on a new licensed Floyd I have laying around, bad idea? Im not familiar with this model of Floyd and its missing one of the Saddle things that pop out when you loosen the bridge. Im sure i can find one if I looked.

Its probably going to be for resale so I probably wont go there. Maybe just the licensed.

Still looking for any tips on removing that Oxidation.

                  Anyone?

It was oxidized pretty bad. A little 3m Polish and about 4 coats and its like new!

Now I just need to find a couple of small things like the little screw that goes around the tuning peg and a string holder for the g string of the Jt6.

I think I did well. I might just keep this one. It does have a couple of 1/2 chips out of a bottom edge, thats kind of a bummer.

Was the 3m polish an oil based polish for metal parts? How do you apply it? Curious as I have some older black trems with that washed out look.
