I ordered these Surfcasters about 4 months ago. Received the Black one first and the Red one last week. They were buit to order for me.

I would not say that they were "custom shop" pieces but
regular production guitars that are built when Jacksonstars has a customer order for one. I will have to take a look at the logo's to see if they are different Dave. The only differences that I found was the P/U ring on the Black one is tall and level and the Red one's short and wedge shaped. The fingerboard on the black one is so dark it really looks like ebony. The red sounds a little better but they both play excellent with extermely low action out of the box!
