    I think I wasn't clear enough. I mean, you just buy a couple of pickguardscrews and cut off the head with a plier or a saw. No risk. Then glue the heads in place. Just an idea.

      that has been suggested before, actually. But in the end, I decided I couldn't be bothered. At a glance most people won't notice the 3 missing screws, and most certainly won't care anyway
