charvel model 4 good deal????

i can pick up at my local shop a charvel model 4 with original hardshell case, active pick ups, HSS, trem, sharky's etc.. for $350, is this a good deal? also how old would this guitar be? late 80's? i'm new too jackson and charvel but to me this seems like i good deal but i could be wrong and don't want to waste my cash on junk

The pickups are not active, they are passive and work well with the active JE-1200 midboost circuit. The sharkfins indicate either a 1987 or 1988 model. The first year Model 4's (1986) had dot fret markers and Kahler trems. That is a very good price for that guitar and OHSC.

thats cool, the guy told me they are active pick ups, but i really don't know much about charvels. looks like i'm going to have another bad case of GAS again

Seeing how it's in a shop, you may be able to haggle a little, especially if you bring cash. Bottom line though, there are very few guitars (if any) that you can get for $350 that are in the same class with a Model 4 in good shape.

well picked up my model 4 and am in love!! this guitar is awsome compared to my jackson js30. It came with the original hardshell case that is grey which i was told was hard to find also and the body is maroon in color.
another question is how can this guitar be considered import if it says it was made in ft. worth texas?

i'm still curious what year it was made. i', saying 87 or 88 because it has the jackson trem but i could be wrong, i'm a newbee

nothing on the guitar says that it was "made" in Ft Worth. That's the corporate headquarters address on the neckplate. No guitars were ever built in Ft Worth (although some will point out that some guitars, like the Model 5FX, were built in Japan and modified in Ft Worth)

and your guess is good - the JT-6 trem indicates an '87 or '88 model.
