    Looks like a model 4.The back cover plates are for a DX10 the model 4s should be recessed.The model series were made in Japan 86-88.The neck plates have the corporate address only.
    Really? well screw Mark Twain.

          Wow that guitar has a huge gap at the neck/body joint! (what part is that called exactly on a guitar?)

          Side note: i love the fact the import charvels say "Fort Worth TX". When importing them to Canada from USA sellers, we don't pay duty because it doesnt say "made in ___overseas___"

                  Ah you guys are probably right! I meant gap as in height-wise, not gap "away from the pickup".. I looked at my other guitars, and came to the conclusion;
                  1) my spectrum has a pickgaurd, so the fretboard gap probably sits underneath it.
                  2) my ESP's have a molded fretboard ending. (no clearance between body and fretboard wood)

                  Am i making sense now?

                    The "gap" is normal.
                    Looks like a very clean Model 4, and yes, the sharkies are real MOP.

                        The space between the fretboard overhang and the body is due to the fact that this has a non-recessed trem, so the neck is angled back and the strings are higher off the body. People who are used to recessed trems (or v-trems) are sometimes surprised to see how high the fretboard can be above the body on an axe with a non-recessed trem.
