My model 1 had nothing in the neckpocket but thanks for putting up those serial numbers...even if those aren't exactly accurate i atleast have a better idea about its date.

      1987: SN 258,000 - 299,000

      1990: SN 330,000 - 335,000
      1991: SN 335,000+

I have no idea how accurate these estimates are.

The estimates are wrong. At least in my case they are. I purchased my M4M in Sept 1987 and it has a serial starting with 316xxx. Even if I were wrong about the year I purchased it (which I'm not) I would only be off by a year, which still makes it wrong. The serial numbers on these guitars were obviously someones idea to keep track of them, that was never followed through IMO.

I see. Thanks for the pointer.

Now that you bring this up, I also recall reading someplace here that there sometimes are wild jumps between serials on the bolties, making it very hard to draw any conclusive evidence from their serials alone.

I guess we can just conclude that the serial is no sure-fire way of putting a production date on a bolt-on model series Charvel.

Congrats...gotta love the model series pointies. Get rid of the neck lacquer and they're darn close to the feel of early 80's san dimas models.
