  • 1992 Charvel sl-1

I just purchased a 1992 Chavel "Gold Top" sl-1 and wanted any info on it. I looked on harmony central but didn't see anthing. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Stephen, do you mean "LS-1". It's a set net, double cutaway with a bound neck and body. Does that sound like yours?

The only Charvel I can think of that fits your description would be the 650XL. They were made up until '91. I don't know of a gold finish, but there was "platinum", which was a silver metal flake finish. Before the 650, they made the Model 6, which had a similar layout but with 3 mini-toggles instead of the 5-way switch, and it had a guitar-shaped logo intead of the script logo on the headstock. No metallic finishes on those, though. Here's a catalog scan with the 650XL:

This scan shows a 375 with the platinum finish:

Another possibility might be that you have a guitar made for the Japanese market, or maybe your guitar was refinished at some point.

-edit- Just saw what Carless Walker wrote. Good call! The LS-1 did come in a goldtop finish:

Your right it's a LS-1. Sorry about that. Had a hard week at work and was about burnt when I got home last night.

That looks like exactly what it is. Thanks.
