  • Retrofit tuners for model series?

I have a cool model 1/4 mutt that I was never able to keep in tune... the only thing I haven't changed yet are the tuners so I figured it's next on the list.

What's a direct retrofit for the tuners found on model series? Thanks guys!

The Planet Waves Auto-trim locking tuners will drop right in and have the 45° screw tab angle. The Schaller mini tuners that Warmoth carries should, too. Be careful if you order Schallers from someone else, though, because the same model # comes with different screw tab angles from different sellers. Pat (shreddermon) found this out when he needed locking tuners for his Y2KV, & he ended up getting his from Warmoth.

I've got Gotoh Magnums (locking tuners) in my Model 7 and they fit just fine

Cool. I'm on ebay US for a black set of right handed Planet waves auto trim but there are none I'll try Warmoth's and hope the Customs don't hate me. Thanks guys!

EDIT: Crap... the Schaller ones are locking tuners, which I'd rather not get, the Auto trims don't look like they've got the 45' angle tab... new models maybe? The 3+3 have the tab, not the inlines.

            EDIT2: I can't order from Warmoth. Doh.

The autotrims are also locking tuners. The 6-in-lines do have the 45° tab. This pic shows the tab:

If you want non-locking, there are Schallers & Gotohs that should fit, but they may not be an improvement over what you already have.

Mhmm weird. On Warmoth you can download a PDF with the dimensions for the auto trim. There are two diagrams, one for inlines (without the tab) and one for 3+3 with the tab.

I don't believe locking tuners improve tuning stability. I like to detune sometimes so they're not that good for me. The ones I have now I suspect are messed up somehow as the saddles are fine and the nut is very well cut (modestly...) I just want an easy, reliable replacement basically.

http://www.allparts.uk.com/catalogue...ducts_id=10630 Those look like they'd fit... they also sell the Schaller ones but they're over 50 quid which is over 100 bucks. If I ordered from the US it'd be under 35 pounds...
