  • New pawn shop score

Landed a flame top CSB 375 deluxe today for $89.00 no case.
Everything is still intact(pickups and Schaller floyd) but the tool that owned it didn't take care of it.You know the deal grime and funk everywhere along with 2 spots where his pocket knife did some cutting.
Its going to get stripped have its damage fixed, a new flame top and back and new paint.
    Going back CSB.
The neck and frets need a good cleaning cool guitar otherwise. Now I have a mate to my DinkyXL in CSB.
    Really? well screw Mark Twain.

      Thank you Sir fett.
Its been there for a few weeks propped up by a few First Act teles and the normal pawn shop fare.I poked around looked at a few and the store clerk which by the way she is a very cute 28 year old metal head said make me an offer.
I naturally said how about dinner next Sat?Oh yeah $75.00 on the Charvel?
She said $89.00 out the door?I agreed.
She is married so that didn't fly.She did thank me for the dinner offer tho'.

You'd better print that and frame it quick!!
In the future though I need to remember to not buy guitars while on Nyquil

I like it.. always prospecting! You never know if you don't ask!

btw, after seeing Pulp Fiction, i'm always a bit uneasy in pawn shops

On another note, I have a friend who works the pawn shops quite regularly. Apparently, what you see on display is certainly not always what's available. Several shops keep a bunch of guitars in cases in the back and simply replace a sold one up front with one in the back. It might be a good idea to always ask what else they have. My friend snagged a nice JEM from the back room

I always ask pawn shops if they have any more guitars than what is on display. Sometimes there are a few worth checking out, but not very often.

                        Nice score on the 375!

I do ask in the little mom and pop pawn shops "what else do you have" and 1/2 the time they have other guitars in the back.Snagged a 70's L.P. case for $75.00.
Up date on the 375 a total refin with new veneer was going to be in the $475.00 range so thats out of the question so a fix of the body carving and burst touch up and she will be up and running.Still going to run me $150.00 approx.
The bridge pickup is a J-90c I find that odd on a 93 Charvel.
BTW found a tooth paste logo'd case in my closet that I forgot I had, lucky huh?
