  • Question regarding Floyd Rose on Model 5

I know as far as the route goes it should just drop in, but will I run into an issue with the wider string spacing making the strings too close to the edge of the fretboard?

The reason I asked is I swapped out the J80c at the bridge with a TB-4 and the pole spacing seems WAAAAY wider.

    Thanks,

I think you'll be fine. I put an OFR on my Model 6 and have no issues with the strings being too close to the edge.

      Awesome. Thanks dg.

I have my TB-4 in the Bridge and a Pearly Gates in at the neck now and finally got them wired right. I goofed on the wiring the first time and stupidly assumed the wiring colors were the same. I should know better but I wanted to hear them hehe. Then it took me a couple days to wrap my head around the 5 way switch properly for how I wanted to wire it. I didn't really like the stock outside/inside splits at 2 and 4 so I have it 1 - bridge, 2 -bridge single split, 3 - both, 4 - neck single split, 5 - neck.

I need to get my crap together and get some pickup rings and other bits and pieces from Budman and I have a local luthier that I'm going to source an OFR from and I'll throw some more pics up when I'm done.

        I

I had a Schaller FR on my 5a...and string spacing was fine. The OFR should be fine as well.

WRT to the wiring, I ran into the same problem when I put Duncans my 750XL, which has the same switch. Most of the time you can just wire Duncans exactly the same as the Jackson pickups and they are fine, but not when you split the coils.

Let us know what you think about the tone after you swap the trem. I think it makes a huge difference, but some people don't think so.
