  • I tried Catalog-Style Shots

Ok, the ones that came out well just happened to be the ones of my camera at an angle :ROTF: Actually doesn't look to bad. The specs are the following:
    DiMarzio Tone Zone Bridge Pickup
    Homemade Piezo
    Schaller Floyd Rose

The piezo I made by taking it out of a buzzer I bough at radio shack, so it works pretty well. I wish I could find a way to put in a preamp though. The electrical tape is on there as the holes in the pickguard were giving it a kind of semi hollow effect and the bass response wasn't very tight and and it was noisy, so the electric tape covers the holes.

Yeah. I had it striped up with White EVH stripes on a black finish, but took off the black and left the original finish fairly intact. I've left the old pickguard on as I plan one eventually putting in a single coil of some kind, a Roland midi pickup (which is what the marks between the humbucker and the bridge are from) and a sustainer at the neck if I can find room.

I'm saving them since I'm going to install a Sustainer in the next couple months and some other single coil.

Yes. I removed the piezo element from a buzzer like you would find in a typical smoke detector that I bought at radio shack. I soldered it into the guitars electronics and added a kill for it. Works pretty well. Just something I did out of boredom and a gimmick. Its right under the bridge pickup taped to the wood.

Wow, very resourceful! Got a wiring schematic or anything for it? Or compnent number. And it can detect the "signal" even when it's squashed under the bridge pup?

I don't have the link, but I came up with it after reading how to make a simple version for an acoustic (just a jack and with no volume/tone/switches and just secured to the top). I believe the inner part of the piezeo's back (the white part) is the hot and the outer rim is ground on the one I used, but don't quote me on that. Likewise, its quiet due to lack of a preamp, but works fine due to the fact they pick up the vibrations of the strings on the body.

Dude you should take that idea to Dimarzio or SD or EMG.

Nah. I got the idea for free, and want to keep it free. First heard of it on Ultimate Guitar actually, just modified the idea slightly to include it in an electric circuit rather than as a stand alone.

Do you have any sound bites of the piezo in action??
