  • New Member. What have I found?

I'm guessing it's a Model 3??? The guy I bought it off of said it was a Model 4, but I don't know enough to be sure one way or the other.
S-S-H, Charvel "Licensed by Floyd Rose" Trem, 5-way selector, single volome knob(no tone knob), serial number on neckplate is 357912. Plays like a DREAM!!! I got it and a Charvel case(kinda worn out, but) for a grand total of $150! More than worth it, IMO. If anyone can point me in the right direction to finding out the specifics on this thing, I'd appreciate any info I can get, i.e. pickup brands, materials, year made.....lol, where to get replacement parts for the trem, all that kinda sexy stuff.

I'm new to the Charvel population, but old in the eyes of the world. Let me say that this is a fantastic site and I've learned a lot here already. (PS- don't pay attention to the date on the pictures, I had to replace batteries in camera and it reset! lol)

    Hmmm
Looks like a Schaller bridge pickup (very nice!), older model series neck, newer dinky body... perhaps a Jackson.
I suppose it could be a re-logo of a toothpaste Charvy...
What you have there seems to be a rather nice collection of parts?

Looks like a Model 3 with some hardware changes.

Yeah Spiv, I was kinda thinking that too... 375... but the knob/switch is more like my predator, or even a fusion custom???
        Seems odd huh?

Ah yeah, I didn't catch the missing tone knob.

The body doesn't have that scoopy thing on the back by the neck joint, so it definitely seems like a Model-series body...

Yeah I can't find anything in the catalog scans that matches this, so I'd have to say it's a mutt of some sort.

Parts. Dinky body rules out all Model Series bolt-ons except 3DR & Model 88, neither of which had that layout or could be modded to that layout without a very involved cavity fill & rerouting (because of slanted pickups in those models). Plus the neck & middle pickup cavities are wrong for either a Model Series or toothpaste logo Charvel.

One other possibility is that it's a Japan-market-only guitar. They made quite a few dinky body models & kept the old headstock logo rather than switching to the toothpaste logo, plus they used that pickup rout for the singles on some models. I couldn't find an exact match in the catalog scans, but there are a couple years missing between '89 & '93.

Nice mutt and a good price, I wouldn't fret over it at all. Congrates!
                Just one more guitar!

Agreed! I missed the price. Hard to beat that for $150.
