according the logo (Charvel1) - well observed DG ! I liked the similar headstock-look, that's why I chose this one.

"Chose"? IMO, you need to correct this if you want it to be accurate. The 3+3 logo was never on the Model series. However, I think it was on later era Charvel imports, so it should really have its own logo designation; "Charvel 3".

Yes. The 3+3 logo was on the '96 onwards San Dimas Japan series that included the Journeyman, Traditional, Standard, Model A, etc.

I tried to get some information and poplar is named several times but the catalog says basswood, so I typed poplar/basswood ? !

Just another FYI....I'm not saying all of them are like this, but I have 2 Charvette 250's, and both of them are absolutely basswood. One black, one white. Exactly the same guitar as your pic except for the color. Maybe they switched to plywood after the first year or something? Not sure. I bought them for the necks only, and really have no other experience with them.

... and I read in an old thread, Charvette 170 was plywood instead of basswood !?! Maybe they interchanged parts/bodies to their liking ?

Unfortunately this is one of the drawbacks of putting together a be all to end all info site on the imports. Just by listening and actually seeing proof like the above, nothing was actually cast in stone with import production. You'll always have to add a disclaimer at the bottom letting the viewer of the info page know that there were some variations in production and that this can only be used as a guideline.

Just look at the production of the 750XL, for example. There were a million changes to that guitar in such a short period of time. You'll go insane trying to come up with anything concrete, I know we have!

Again, I do applaud your work though, as it's an excellent source of info and if I come across something you haven't covered, I'll surely add to it-

That's a good point (which I am guilty of not always doing). Keeping track of the variations and undocumented features of all the J/C import guitars and parts (tremolo, pickups...) is insanely time consuming. Communicating this info through a web site is very tedious too, but can be rewarding. A handful of members here have a pretty good overview of the imports, I feel, and that is hard earned knowledge - having owned a lot of models and talked about them here for years. Those members are precious to have nearby and I am always grateful for their posts. You know who you are!

Every site about J/C guitars and parts, I welcome. Good job your new site, Franx!
