  • Charvel CX-592

    i bought this 4 years ago at a shop i would eventually end up working, i had originally bought a jackson ps-2 but took it back and traded it for this. it is a little rough and i would like to know if it is worth doing up ie pickups fret dress, Etc:

    plus i have had trouble finding much info on these. i have seen catalogs with some basics.but more is needed.

    Well, the ones with the Strat heads are pretty unusual as Fender blew the whistle on them early in the run. That bridge looks like the crappy one I've seen on a lot of Vesters, but never a MIJ guitar... are you sure that is stock?

      The bridge on a CX-592 was the JT280 (WB2) and the bridge on your guitar looks like one;
      Is it worth "doing up ... ?" - Did you like playing this guitar ? If yes, I would say of course it's worth to do whatever is needed to be done. Or did you mean worth in terms of value ?
      What exact "more info" do you need ?

        thanks,

        overall the guitar is good, but the fret edges are to sharp for my liking and the trem is just horrible. plus when i got it the paint had yellowed and had really bad sticker marks so i resprayed it but the paint has since chipped so i will have to redo it.

        the info i am looking for is both a date and what market this particular one was from. i live in Australia and i don't believe many charvels where sold here back then.

        the serial number is 377433

          I'd use the neck on the Tele I keep daydreaming about building. That's what I 'd do.

            CX-592 is a 1992 Made in Japan !
            The way you described your guitar doesn't sound like: ... what a player ... great ... etc... So, I'd leave it (or save the neck for a project-guitar as m2pmd70 recommended) and gor for a decent model "whatever" if you like Charvels !
