  • Charvel Model 4 Bridge Help...

Hi, I'm new here in JFC and I just got this charvel, I'm sure its a model 4, and i think its an '88, but i dont know about the bridge, looks like is not the one that used to came with the charvels from that time.

Is it better than the one that used to came with the charvels from that time?

Any info about the guitar and the bridge would be appreciated.

    Thanks..

If the bridge were maintained properly, yes. It is a large step up from the JT-6 tremolo. (original equipment on 87-88 Model 4s) However, the rusty condition this is in really takes a lot away from it's playability.

Go to a bike shop, and ask them if you can stick it in their WD40 bath overnight. Go pick it up, bring it home and unscrew all the parts (paying attention to the order) and scrub all the rust off with a toothbrush. Wipe everything down (WD40 attracts dust) and put back together in the same order.

$350 - $450 depending on the issues and whether a HSC is included. the trem is an upgrade, but it's in bad shape.
