  • Me 2

Here's my new baby, a red Model 2!

Been jonesing for a Model 2 for a while. I'm a bit partial to bolt ons and single hummers rock so I'm happy I managed to get one.

The JT-6 on it had some parts missing so I got another one for spares. Took the two bridges apart and assembled a working one. It's still not a beauty but it works! The spare had a sort of an adjustable through bolt in the block. I'm not sure if they came with such things stock but I figured it was a nice way to block the bridge. So now the thing is pull down only.

While I had the guitar dismantled I got a sudden urge to replace the stock pickup with an EMG. So that's what I did - there's now an EMG 85 in it.

Anyways, since I don't want to be the author of a worthless thread, here are the pics:

The newcomer with my Model 4. Nice pair huh?

    A few more pics here.

    NICE!

I also have been wondering about picking up a single hum model. Did you import them both or are they local trades? I've ehard that Charvel's in that part of the world are super rare.

I've bought - and sold - several import Charvels locally. While they're not around each and every corner, you can still get your hands on a lot of models. It might take some time and set you back a whole lot more than on the US market but still.

Buying from abroad is always an option of course. I've had some good experiences on German Ebay and I do keep an eye on it. In my experience, trading in the EU area is pretty much hassle free.

          Very nice!
A good home for the EMG 85, too.
I have one in the 88...I took it out, then put it back.

Do you have the original bridge in it or have you upgraded? Whereas the JT-6 can be replaced with an OFR the nice thing about the Kahler Fulcrums is that they are interchangeable with Kahler Killers. Killers kick ass!

Nice score, nice guitar. My first Charvel was an 86(?) with the dot inlays...I loved it put didn't care for the "active"

...circuitry nor the pickups and switches, so I gutted it and converted it to a single HB, one-volume deal...but full of holes where the other PUs, knobs, and switches were.

I loved the clean look of these single HB guitars so eventually I found an old, NOS Model 1, red just like yours but with maple board and vintage style trem.

I soon replaced the original PU with a SD and had a Schaller FR installed. It's been my main and number one guitar for over 15 years now. And to think I paid about $160 for it...

I've got to ost some pics of it.

                        Terve!

A little bit of an update... this guitar now officially kicks ass!

Just finished installing this - and yes I realize it needs to be intonated (and cleaned)!

Thanks to budman68 (http://www.fretsonthenet.com/) for the replacement posts, premium quality and work like a charm!

Looks great! New Floyd? How do you like the EMG in that guitar?

The Floyd is indeed new. The upgrades are now worth more than the guitar...

I've only played the guitar at bedroom volumes so can't really comment on the EMG. I put it in there since I figured this guitar wouldn't be offering me a plethora of different sounds anyway so why not go all the way and kill whatever versatility there was with an EMG. But I think it looks killer!
