I would try the same pickups you use in other axes, and see how they fare in the M6. Chances are high they'd give you a sound you'd feel at home with.

I use a Jackson J-80C in my M6, and it has an awesome 80's sound. It feels very similar to Mick Mars's "Shout at the Devil" sound. I currently use an old distortion pedal to get more gain for solos. If the J-80C would stop working, I'd first put back the original J-50BC, and if that didn't work out, I'd try a Duncan Custom or a DiMarzio Super Distortion. I don't use the singlecoils at this point, but I think I'm going to try Duncan Hot Rails for the neck position.

I've also had EMGs in mine; EMG-85/EMG-S and EMG-58/EMG-S. I have since grown out of the "EMG sound", but an EMG humbucker works just fine in that guitar. I don't care for the EMG singlecoils though; they are good for cleans, but that's about it.

I too have used a J80C in an M6 and it sizzles. Like Sunbane said, really pure 80s sound.

Right now I have a Dimarzio Super Distortion in there, not a bad pickup. Again, retty 80s sounding, quite bright (but not say, Seymour Duncan bright). Really, I'd likea little more midrange and thickness to the sound, maybe it is a matter of tweaking amp settings though.

Super Distortion is nice, pretty hot and chunky, but still clear enough IMO.

For the neck I would recommend the Air Norton S, have only used the full sized version myself but whatever, it works VERY good with the SuperD, both output- and tonewise.

I think a lot of people recommend Cool Rails for the two singles.

I Love the Duncans....But have been experimenting with Lace Hot Golds lately..
I Have S_S_D (Double hot gold 13.2k forming a 26k "humbucker") in my strat....amazing with lots of combinations of splits and phases...should be great in a model 6..I think I might try it on my 650.

I had an Invader come with mine when I bought it. Pretty awful, I thought. I think it wsa far too treble-y...for me at least.

jackson pickups completely and utterly suck . The worst pickups ever ever series 10 guitars, hell even the old sears toy guitars had better pickups. i replace the jackson pickups in my lefty charvel 475 for dimarzio super 3 in bridge, and dimarzio fast track 2 in neck and middle positions. got rid of the active electronics and crappy midboost, turned the midboost to second tone. hooked both tone controls seperately to each neck and middle pickup and not to bridge. i can get sounds ranging metallica, pantera to a bluesy.
as for my jackon dk2 i will have duncan custom shop custom jb for bridge and custom rail pickups for neck and middle or just add van zandt pickups

I put the Duncan Distortion in the bridge of mine with a little JB in the middle and a little 59 in the neck.
