How y'all dern?
My childhood fantasy came tru 3 days ago as I finally located and aquired an '87 black Model 5 (100% original, a real beauty - see pics) just like the one I drooled over of my bandmates' back in 1990. I won't admit what I paid for her, but I would have gone higher...
However, this behind-the-nut lock is a mystery to me...it seems that there is one bare nut attached to each of the 3 "standard " headed locking screws, no washers, or anything for the strings to be clamped from underneath to to lock, ergo, no string lock even when tightend...some of the nuts cannot be tightened as they spin with the screw...I have yet to re-string it, cause I want to make sure I can fix the nut all at once, so anyone have any ideas? I always thought that this type would be considered a Kahler type nut, but it is a FR lic. Jackson bridge and original...
