Hi everyone, I am new to the site, but wanted to share my story.
About 7-8 years ago, one of my tenants (self storage) who I probably shouldn't name, went up for auction. When the unit sold, I told the buyers it if there's any musical equipment to let me know first. Well, they found a guitar in a beat up case, that was missing the bridge and the cavity covers, to them it was worthless so they sold it to me for $1.00! I've kept it all these years hoping to put it back together.
Well, I finally did. I just put on a FR licensed tremolo and made the cavity covers myself. (Dremel, plastic)
Man, it's a sweet sounding guitar. BUT...I eye balled it when I drilled the new holes and it's off a 1mm or so, so I have to re-drill it and try again. (Bummer) And most likely I will have to strip it and paint it because of the sanding I did for the holes. But hey! for what I bought it for, I am pretty stoked.
