I think you can use normal OFR lock blocks in though, as I saw it on a used Model 4 once and it seemed to work fine. Don't quote me on that though. The finish from that trem looks gone though unless I am mistakened, so maybe an OFR would not be a bad idea.

Glad you got it though... I almost bought it but was not going to be able to pay for shipping from there. Good luck with it! Are you going to replace the pickguard?

Yeah, it is in a bit of a bad way. I'm thinking I'll spend the £20-30 to try and get the JT6 up and running in the short term, and once I've freed up a bit of money put an OFR in.

I've found a place that will make me a Spectrum pickguard, which I assume will fit, so again once I've got some funds available I'll buy one and put it on

Not sure how long they were made for, no more than a year though.

I haven't touched it for a few days, had a look today and the frets look a bit shot, they've got dents in them from the strings.

This guitar is going to sit in my room gathering dust at least until Christmas, I think. Got too much going on at the moment to be able to spend any money or time on working on it.

Never really heard of a Model 8, however Id bet on that being an early Spectrum. Notice the Spectrum pickguard holes and has the active circuit switch as well. If you remove that humbucker, chances are youll find that the rout has been modified from the original slant single coil. The chrome hardware, and real floyd nut, all add up to being a Spectrum. IIRC, real Floyd nuts were NOT used on any imports originally equipped with a JT6 trem. If that guitar originally came with a JT6, then it would have the "behind the nut" Kahler style lock.

I don't think there are any catalog scans of it, but I'm pretty sure it ended up like the Model 7 and 3DR, and got it's name changed a short time after it came out along with the tooth paste logo and hardware update. Other than, the same guitar. Spectrums never had JT6s anyway. I also pointed out the pickguard had been removed and the humbucker was non-original where it was bought offsite. The JT6s also never came in chrome that I've seen (even if the bars were stainless steel).

It was called the Model 8 when it had the guitar logo, then the Spectrum when it had the toothpaste logo.

Just like the Model 7 Tele had the guitar logo and then turned into the Legend with the toothpaste logo.

It does have the behind the nut lock (I think it actually says Kahler somewhere on it). The Model 8 also had the Spectrum style pickguard and active circuit switch, mine has just lost its pickguard through the years. You're right on the route being modified, it's really badly done, it's too big so I can only screw one side of the pickup ring down.

That rout thing is a common problem... Ive got a couple avengers that had the slanted singles at the bridge as well, and its hard to rout it out and still have meat to screw the ring into. You can get a larger ring... I had a couple that were about 3/16" longer than regular style ones laying around... not sure where they came from or where to get them, but they are out there.

Can you get a better shot of that lock nut? Really looks like a Floyd type to me.

You may be able to save that hole with some putty-like wood filler.

I have no idea what Phil is talking about, but people here have swapped out JT-6s for OFRs with no problem. You just have to make sure the OFR has the same size block of the JT-6, which should be 42mm.
