  • Finally finished my Strat-Head build

It has sat around for months waiting for parts, but I finally put it together today.

Model 1 body, Musikraft neck, Original Floyd Rose, and an EMG 81.

Ooh! VERY nice! I love the contrast of maple over black. Good job.
    I'm not Ron!

Very nice, would love to see a group shot of all of your toys. Will I need to buy a bigger monitor?
      Just one more guitar!

Nice, I see that poor old pointy neck in the box just crying at the sight of that strathead that took its home.

Damn, that is nice! Simple and tasteful! 1vol/EMG/Floyd, that's all I have on my guitars also. Bare bones essentials, that's all I need.

That musikraft neck looks very nice, I've looked into their products before during a past project, but ultimately went with an Allparts neck. Next time, I think I'm going with a musikraft like you did.

          How does it sound?
Was this an original 1 pickup guitar?
What wood were these bodies made of?

I always liked the look of a Maple board on a Black guitar, makes the board really pop.
Once again, very nice build man!

            Thanks.
I'm very happy with the Musikraft neck. I didn't pay any extra for it, but it even has some nice birdseye in it, and the frets are excellent.
Yes, this was originally a Model 1, which had the single humbucker. I'm not usually an EMG guy, but I just wanted something different for this guitar to make it stand out from my others. It's got a great high gain lead sound, which is really the only thing this guitar was meant for!

I'm not sure of the body wood. Inspecting the unfinished neck pocket while it was apart - it looks like basswood. It's sort of a medium weight. Not super heavy but pretty solid.

The only thing this guitar lacks now is a big brass sustain block for the Floyd, I love those things.

You know,I've never tried one of those. Actually I just recently found out about them. Do they make a dramatic difference in tone and sustain?

What model of neck did you get for this? Is it a compound radius w/ jumbo frets?

I think they make a dramatic difference. I put one in my SL2H a while back and I was floored by it, the tone is alot thicker and more powerful, and the sustain is noticably better. It might be classified as a "subtle" difference by some, but if you are the type of person who notices the little details - you will be pleasantly surprised.

I got a straight 15" radius with jumbo frets.

One pickup, a volume knob, what else could you need? Nice job!
