  • Charvel Model?

Ok so I have a Charvel that I have had for years picked it up in a pawn shop. The thing feels and plays great.

I am just trying now to figure out what it is. From what I have read it is either a Model 6 or Model 4 (not sure the exact differences).

It has is a H/S/S configuration, Floyd Rose (Maybe the JT6 or whatever) through neck design. Here are some picks if they help best I could find atm, not at home.

Oh yea...also the 3 toggle switches for the pups and 3 knobs (which 2 seem like tone? and the other makes the amp freak out, Im assuming some kind of a boost/gain).

Model 4 would be bolt on and 22 frets !

is the neck bound? looks like it. If the neck is bound its a 6,if not a 5 both are neck through and both have boost!
I know the old saying that the value of an opinion is generally inversely proportional to the strength with which it is held.

The Model 5 had dot inlays and two humbuckers. And the Model 5A was one humbucker/one volume knob, which some got sent back to the factory and had a slanted single coil added to the neck (some also got tone controls) and that became the 5FX.

Thanks for the responses all. I had a feeling from what I've read it was a Model 6.

Anyone know what the wood is, it is a heavy guitar compared to the others but doesn't bother me (big guy and all).

Either way, it has been the guitar I compare all other guitars to. I cannot seem to find another with the same feel (mainly the neck, width and thinness). I always choose this one.

The neck-thru Model series were made of poplar (with a maple neck).

Awesome axe!! Yeah, the knobs are volume, tone and mid boost. Im assuming you have already found the nine volt battery that powers it..??
